A study aiming to estimate the risk of febrile seizures and epilepsy after DTaP-IPV-Hib vaccination given at 3, 5, and 12 month old kids has recently concluded that the combined diphtheria-tetanus toxoids-acellular pertussis-inactivated poliovirus-Haemophilus influenza type b (DTaP-IPV-Hib) vaccine is associated with a small increased risk of febrile seizures on the day of the first and second vaccinations.

Yuelian Sun, PhD, of Aarhus University in Denmark, and colleagues are the authors of this study on 378,834 children born in Denmark from 2003 through 2008. The kids were followed through 2009.

Researchers has pointed out that babies who got a single shot that included vaccines against tetanus and whooping cough were at higher risk of having a fever-related seizure. In fact, in Denmark, the child vaccination schedule calls for a combined vaccine given at three, five and 12 months of age against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis), polio and Haemophilus influenzae type 2, known collectively as DTap-IPV-Hib. Following this combined vaccinnation schedule, the researchers found that over the week after getting any of their shots, babies weren’t more likely to have a febrile seizure than they were during any other week.

Up to seven years after getting their shots, vaccinated kids didn’t have any extra risk of being diagnosed with epilepsy, Sun’s team reported Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

In conclusion of the study’s authors, DTaP-IPV-Hib vaccination was associated with an increased risk of febrile seizures on the day of the first 2 vaccinations given at 3 and 5 months, although the absolute risk was small. Vaccination with DTaP-IPV-Hib was not associated with an increased risk of epilepsy.

For those of you who think pink is a confection of your childhood (light-as-meringue tutus, plastic Barbie heels, sugary sweets), think again. The color that dominated your dollhouse can now be a staple in your makeup bag―in the form of eye shadows, blushes, lipsticks, and nail polish. “Pink instantly lifts and brightens any skin tone,” says makeup artist Bobbi Brown. You can either apply it subtly in places or go strong and play up one feature. Here you’ll learn doable, wearable looks and find the right shades for you. Meet pink at its best: pretty, practical, and all grown-up.

1. Eyeshadow Shades: Pink is a really cool makeup shade for your eyelids. In fact you use it all the time. You just don’t notice it because you not consciously highlighting it. We usually use pink as a tint because it is too loud color for daily wear.

2. Shading Pink: It is important to use a combination of pinks instead of flat bubblegum pink for for your eyes. Your eye makeup ideas are important because that will be the focus of your face. Try a base of flesh tone pink or peach layered with a brighter shade like Barbie pink. This combination will bring depth to your eyes because normally pink is a pretty flat color.

3. Pink Contours: Another great eye makeup idea is to use a pink liner as a highlighting line on your lower lid. If you have kept your eyeshadow basic then you can highlight eyes by drawing a thin line of pink over the lower lash line. It will go best if you have used a bit of white eye liner too.

4. Which Shade Of Pink: Whether you look like a circus tent or suavely charismatic depends on your choice of shade. Some shades of pink like the natural lip color or the reddish pink closer to magenta can give you a very sophisticated look. But if you go for baby diaper pink then you god save you. Not everybody is Baby Spice to carry that off!

5. Pink Cheeks: Pink makeup for your cheeks is not such a big deal for V Day or no Valentine’s day. It is one the basic makeup shades you use on a daily basis. People hardly put green rouge on their cheeks. It is usually the reds, the pinks and the browns. But the key is to not overdo your cheeks when you are using a bright color like pink on the rest of your face. Don’t make it look like pancake makeup.

6. Pink Lips: Choose a decent shade for your lips and always balance it out. If you have used bright pink for your eyes then your lips should be simple. You can also use a dark pink lip liner and fill up your lips with a neutral color.

Without makeup, you would not recognize most celebrities walking down the road. When it comes to ‘always on camera’ personalities like Kim Kardashian, makeup takes a hugely important role.

Kim Kardashion’s makeup has a certain standard look that can be best described as dark eyes and pale lips. Most of the time, she goes for a smokey eyes makeup and flesh tones for her lips. She is amazing and so gorgeous! Reaching this is due to her first stop in skin-care regimen or makeup secret! Do you want somewhat to look like her.

Kim Kardashian’s Makeup Secrets:

1. Follow The Basics: The base of your makeup does not change even if you are copying celebrity makeup styles. You still have to wash your face, apply ice for long lasting makeup and then moisturize to make your skin supple enough for the makeup to get set. There is no alternative to these basic steps and every girl does it, so must Kim Kardashian.

2. Conceal! This is the trick that can be called the reson de atre (reason to exist) for celebrity makeup styles. They need to conceal all the flaws on their skin because the camera sees everything and for that they use lots of concealer. Usually there is a conceal for the whole face and a special one that is applied under the eyes to conceal dark circles which Kardashian definitely uses to to get such bright eyes inspite of a hectic lifestyle.

3. Just Tanning: Just the concealer would have made Kim Kardashian look flat as a squeezed balloon but she has a healthy tanned glow to her skin. That comes from tanning dust she uses to add some colour to her face. It is just like gold dust just milder.

4. Blush It Cream: Kim Kardashian does use a blusher and huge amounts of it but she never uses bright reds or pinks. It is a standard pale cream blush that she uses to highlight her cheekbones that gives a lovely pearl glow finish to her face.

5. Diva Has Smokey Eyes: Kim Kardashian’s makeup style has always been smokey mysterious eyes. This she does in a range of gray, slate and brown hues. She alternates these shades smudged with petroleum jelly.

6. Black Is The Colour For Eyes: You will rarely see Kardashian in a eyes drawn with any other eyepencil but black. Dark kohl for dark eyes is a makeup trend set by her.

7. Flesh Tones As Lip Colour Shades: Her lips are bare and shinny because she uses lip colourshades that are nude and neutral. A dab of gloss on it and you have various shades of shinny pale tinted lips.

Autism signs can be found as early as in 6-month-old babies, studied researchers at University of North Carolina. The researchers looked at how the brain develops in early life and found that tracts of white matter that connect different regions of the brain did not form as quickly in children who later developed autism, compared with kids who didn’t develop the disorder.

“The way the wiring was changing was dampened” in the children with autism, said study researcher Jason Wolff. “It was a more blunted change over time, in how the brain was being wired,” Wolff said.

In contrast, in the brains of infants who did not later develop autism, white matter tracts were swiftly forming , he said. “Their brains were organizing themselves in a pretty rapid fashion.”

The findings, published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, suggest that during a child’s first year, “there is a potential to intervene, to disrupt autism before it becomes entrenched,” Wolff said. “There are a lot of possibilities to improve outcomes for these children.”

How fast you walk and the strength of your hand grip could shed light on your odds of developing dementia later in life, new research has found.

American researchers from Boston Medical Centre discovered a new link between slow walking speed and poor mental health in the future.

Researchers came to their conclusion after conducting a series of tests on 2,400 men and women aged around 62, whose results were measured over 11 years.

The participants underwent tests on walking speed, hand grip strength and cognitive mental function.

After studying brain scans taken throughout the tests, scientists discovered that 34 people developed dementia over the 11-year period and 70 of them had a stroke.

Researchers found that those with a slower walking pace were 1.5 times more likely to develop dementia and those with a strong hand grip had a 42% lower risk of having a stroke over the age of 65.

“These are basic office tests which can provide insight into risk of dementia and stroke and can be easily performed by a neurologist or general practitioner,” Dr Erica Camargo from the study, said in a statement.

“While fraility and lower physical performance in elderly people have been associated with an increased risk of dementia, we weren’t sure until now, how it impacted people of middle age.”

However, despite the findings being a positive step towards spotting early signs of dementia, the results are yet to be published in a peer-reviewed academic journal and the researchers recognise that there is still more research to be done.

“Further research is needed to understand why this is happening and whether preclinical disease could cause slow walking and decreased strength.”

This isn’t the first time scientists have found a link between slow walking and poor health. In 2009, a team of researchers discovered a strong association between the speed of someone’s walk and their chances of developing heart disease.

Another study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, discovered a link between fast walking in elderly people and living a longer life.

Dr Marie Janson, Director of Development at Alzheimer’s Research UK, told The Huffington Post: “Although this study has yet to be published in full, it does raise some important questions about whether physical problems, such as difficulty walking, could precede other symptoms associated with dementia.

“It’s not clear whether the people in this study had other health problems that may have affected their walking speed, and which could also raise the risk of dementia – however further study could shed new insight into how walking speed and dementia may be linked.

“Currently 820,000 people are affected by dementia in the UK, and as our population ages that number is increasing. We still need a better understanding of the causes of dementia if we are to find effective ways to treat and prevent the condition, and that means we must invest in research.”

Adding to this, Dr. Anne Corbett from the Alzheimer’s Society, said in a statement: “This large study adds to existing evidence that people with slower walking speed could be at a higher risk of dementia later in life.

“But before people take stock in the strength of a handshake or the speed you cross the road, more research is needed to understand why and what other factors are involved.

“The good news is that there are many things you can do to reduce your risk of developing dementia. We recommend you eat a healthy balanced diet, don’t smoke, maintain a healthy weight, take regular exercise; and get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked regularly.”

How can you choose the best lipstick color that work well for your skin tone, hair color and every occasion? If you do not attach a vital importance to select lipstick color, you would be paid price for your mistake. In contrast, when you take a right color of lipstick, you can get a maximum beauty for minimum effort.

Perfect pink lipstick goes very well with pink clothes makes Taylor Swift a princess

Consider your upcoming contexts

When choosing a color, take into account your lifestyle and what situations you would wear this particular lipstick. For example, go for a prom at night, if you’re doing your eyes dramatic, use a lighter color on your lips. Try a natural lip liner color and blend into lips with finger or lipbrush. Then apply a high-shine gloss for lots of shimmer! Not doing much with makeup for prom? Try a plum colored lip liner and blend with finger or lipbrush. Then, apply a close colored lip stick and blot. Apply a high-shine gloss to center of bottom lip. Meanwhile, darker lipstick colors do not belong in the office but a ligter tone with naturally makeup or nude colors.

Match your skin tone

You should also consider your skin tone when purchasing a lipstick. Women of color can better carry off dark, bright or dramatic shades that may look garish on women with fairer skin. Women who have yellow undertones to their skin should stick to shades that are correspondingly warm toned because they will look flattering. Plums, wines and deep reds flatter a dark skin tone, while light-brown beiges with pink or orange undertones complement a lighter skin tone. Olive skin looks good with brownish reds, light browns and raisin shades of lipstick.

Match your hair color

There are somewhat complexion while deciding on a lipstick color. The choice of your lip colour depends on several factors, also including the colors of your hair. In general, feel free to apply your favorite lipstick color but ensure that can not be too independent to your skin tone and your hair color. According to beauty experts, pink lipstick suits blonde women and bright orange color should not be used for your lips with a redhead. And the easiest choice is a brown or gold lipstick that matches any hair color.

Effect on your lip size

Also remember to take the size of your lips into account. If your lips tend to be less full than average, you should consider lighter shades rather than darker ones because dark colors tend to make lips look smaller. Conversely, light colors, especially if they are on the glossy side, tend to make lips appear fuller.

The colour you put on your lips changes your appearance instantly. You can change your looks from simple to gorgeous just by adding a dash of lip color. Among many techniques for lipstick color choice, must-remember factors are: your skin tone, your hair color, your clothes, and your life style.

The 21st century is the regime supporting for organic foods and go green. Many parts in the world are planning for organic farms to promote enviromentally friendly planting campaign. The reason is not stopped at environment protection but for healthier life of human beings.

Eating well is at its right meaning when we know what foods ( fruits, vegetables, whole grains and good fats) to consume and how that foods are grown or raised. The motivation of a heathier, better food choice urges us to go more organic foods.

Vegetables that are labelled as “organic” are safer as must be grown in safe soil, have no modifications and must remain separate from conventional products. During the growing period, farmers are not allowed to use synthetic pesticides, bioengineered genes (GMOs), petroleum-based fertilizers and sewage sludge-based fertilizers. When no chemicals are widely used in growing vegetables, foods are safer to eat. One more benefit to go organic foods is environmentally-friendly. Organic farming practices reduce pollution (air, water, soil), conserve water, reduce soil erosion, increase soil fertility, and use less energy. The world are calling for saving our earth out of risk of climate change and warming global, there is no reason to say “no” with more organic farms, more green.

Organic livestocks must have access to the outdoors and be given organic feed. They may not be given antibiotics, growth hormones, or any animal-by-products. When shopping for foods, notice at the label that clearly points out “100% organic or organic or made with organic ingredients and so on.

When it comes to comparision of nutrition, safety, and price between conventional (non-organic) foods and organic foods, there are some real differences easy to checked out. Organic foods, of course, is totally safer than its traditionally grown counterparts because they are taken care with natural fertilizers, such as manure or compost, to feed soil and plants.

As a wonder of whether organic or non organic is more nutritious, even though the answer is still not clear yet, the reason to prefer organic to conventional foods lies more on its health benefits, not on its price. The choice to add organic foods to your diet may cost a bit more money, but for that higher price, you are buying the reassurance that you’re making healthy decisions for our own health and your family’s health.

Breast cancer suffered women who received this form of psychotherapy (talk therapy), known as cognitive behavioral therapy, had reduced their symptoms by half within six months.

“Hot flashes and night sweats are distressing symptoms, which cause social embarrassment and sleep problems, and they are challenging to treat, especially for women who have had breast cancer” because hormone replacement therapy is generally not recommended for these women, explained lead researcher Myra Hunter.

According to background information in the study, which is published in the Feb. 15 online edition of The Lancet Oncology, 65 percent to 85 percent of women have hot flashes after breast cancer treatment.

Group cognitive behavioral therapy is a safe and effective treatment for women who have hot flashes and night sweats following breast cancer treatment, Hunter said, with additional benefits to mood, sleep and quality of life.

“The women in this trial reported frequent and problematic symptoms and relatively low quality of life,” said Hunter, a professor of clinical health psychology at King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry.

Hunter’s team randomly assigned 96 women who had been treated for breast cancer and suffered from night sweats and hot flashes to either “talk therapy” or usual care.

The 47 women who received the therapy attended weekly 90-minute sessions for six weeks. For the others, usual care consisted of access to nurses and oncologists, telephone support and cancer support services, the researchers noted.

The therapy sessions included psycho-education, paced breathing, and behavioral strategies to manage hot flashes and night sweats, as well as interactive PowerPoint presentations, group discussion, handouts and weekly homework, Hunter said.

In addition, participants learned how to handle the stress associated with hot flashes and night sweats, and found new ways to decrease anxiety, she explained.

The women were also taught to manage hot flashes in social situations and to understand night sweats and improve sleep habits using mental and behavioral strategies.

The investigators found that the women who had received the cognitive behavioral therapy significantly reduced the number of hot flashes and night sweats they experienced in the nine weeks after the start of the study.

This reduction in symptoms lasted for 26 weeks. At nine weeks there was a 46 percent reduction in symptoms and a 52 percent reduction at 26 weeks, Hunter’s team found.

However, among women receiving usual care, hot flashes and night sweats decreased by 19 percent after nine weeks and 25 percent after 26 weeks.

“These reductions were sustained and associated with significant improvements in mood, sleep and quality of life,” Hunter said. “This is a safe, acceptable and effective treatment option, which can be incorporated into breast cancer survivorship programs and delivered by trained breast cancer nurses.”

Holly Prigerson, director of the Center for Psycho-Oncology and Palliative Care Research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, wrote an accompanying journal editorial.

“Hot flashes and night sweats are very common, distressing and persistent — women reported being troubled by them for an average of two years after breast cancer treatment,” Prigerson said.

She noted that the new study provides sound evidence upon which to recommend cognitive behavioral therapy for breast cancer patients suffering from these symptoms.

“Adaptations to an online, self-management version of the intervention would allow for more flexible scheduling and greater access at potentially lower cost of delivery,” Prigerson said. “Combining the intervention with medications that effectively treat hot flashes and night sweats might produce the most dramatic effects with reductions in symptoms as well as the distress caused by them.”

Prigerson said this type of therapy might also be used to treat postmenopausal women suffering from these symptoms.

“Of course, scientifically, we can’t generalize beyond the sample of women who experience menopausal symptoms as a result of treatment for breast cancer,” she said. “But given that they found that “talk therapy” worked on the distress associated with hot flashes and night sweats, then it would seem likely to generalize to menopausal symptoms experienced outside of this context.”
